CALGARY, AB–(Marketwire – 03/12/10) – BWI Holdings, Inc. announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Budget Waste, Inc., located in Western Canada, is adopting a new way to reduce fuel costs and to significantly decrease harmful greenhouse gases with the use of Hydrogen Generating Modules in 2010.
The Hydrogen Generating Modules can be attached to any type of engine to enhance the combustion process independent of fuel used, including gasoline, diesel, propane, natural gas and ethanol. The unit produces a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen gases on demand, through a controlled electrolysis process. The gases are delivered to the engine's air intake manifold, where they mix with air or air-fuel vapours and enter the engine's cylinders to enhance the combustion process.
The purpose is to improve overall engine combustion efficiency by producing a more complete burn of the air-fuel mixture. Gasoline engines usually operate at 85% efficiency, while diesel engines run at 33% to 45% efficiency. The remaining percentage of inefficiency represents unburned hydrocarbons that are released into the atmosphere as polluting emissions. By introducing only a fraction of the usual amount of hydrogen and oxygen gases to the combustion process, the lean flammability limit of the fuel is significantly extended thereby achieving greater thermo efficiency and a more complete burn.
