HOUSTON, TX–(Marketwire – 03/01/10) – SatMAX Corporation (Pinksheets:SATM – News), a leading global provider of wireless, non-line-of-sight satellite communications products and services announced today that it has received its second order from the U. S. Navy for a SatMAX� satellite communications repeater system. The new hangar-installed satellite data communications repeater will be located at the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) in Patuxent River, MD.
The SatMAX� equipment will be used at NAWC to test Iridium-based communications and avionics. With this order, the Navy has expanded the usage of SatMAX� repeaters from voice communications over handheld satellite telephones to data transfer and testing of aircraft avionics. The SatMAX� repeater allows aircraft maintenance teams to discontinue towing aircraft from hangars to establish a line of sight to communications satellites in order to test satellite-based aircraft avionics systems. The Navy intends to use the NAWC installation as a prototype bringing cost reducing, patented SatMAX technology to advanced aircraft maintenance strategies.
